Are you affected?

To determine if you need to comply with the Producer Responsibility Packaging and Waste Regulations you need to ask whether your company:

• Has an annual turnover of more than £2M and
• Handles more than 50 tonnes of packaging per year.

If the answer to both is yes, then you need to comply with the regulations. Bear in mind the amount of packaging you use is not simply the amount of packaging you purchase. If you sell products that come to you pre-packaged you also need to include the weight of packaging supplied on these goods (and if you repackage, include the packaging you remove as well!)   

Operational Plan 

Businesses handling five hundred tonnes or more of packaging have to submit an Operational Plan to the Agency if registering direct.  Alternatively, by joining a compliance scheme businesses will fall under the scheme's Operational Plan approved by DEFRA and the Environment Agency.
